NBF honours Bengaluru citizens for exemplary work

Bengaluru: Four people who were instrumental in saving the lives of two Surya Kiran pilots who crashed while training for Aero India show here in February were among those honoured by the Namma Bengaluru Foundation Saturday for their exemplary contribution.
Uday Kumar, Shiva Kumar, Chetan Kumar BM and Prajwal HKhad saved the lives of the pilots who ejected after the plane crashed but suffered serios injuries.
The Foundation felicitated unsung heroes with Namma Bengaluru Awards for their exemplary contribution to the city.
In its tenth edition, NBF, founded by BJP Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar, recognised six Bengalureans in addition to a few other individuals.
Former Chief Justice of India Justice M N Venkatachaliahwas the chief guest for the event, which was themed- “Awakened, Aware, Active, Informed and Determined citizens can create change.”
In a press release, NBF said the awards were given to history and stone inscription enthusiast Udaya Kumar, Karnataka Forest Department officer Ravindra Kumar N, co-founders of Swachha Eco SolutionsRajesh Babu and Victoria Joslin D’Souza and Smitam founder Meghana Murthy.
Ashok Kamath of Akshara Foundation was honoured with the “Namma Bengalurean of the Year.”
The foundation also felicitated Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre (CARE) and Sangeeta Halimani, a woman constable from Yelahanka police station for her exemplary act of humanity for having breastfed and comforted a day-old baby found abandoned on the streets of the city.
