NITK to carry out scientific study to ease traffic movement in city

Mangaluru: “A decision is taken to improve the traffic movement on the roads of the city, by conducting a scientific study, which will be carried out by NITK Surathkal. In addition, a proposal to install automatic signal in all the main junctions of the city under the Smart City project is also submitted,” said Laxmi Ganesh, DCP of traffic division. He was speaking during the Police phone-in programme that was held at police commissioner’s office on Friday, June 14.
Traffic rule violation by buses
Bus owners have been issue notice to resolve issues regarding the movement of private buses in the city. Legal action and fines have been implemented on bus drivers and conductors, who violate the traffic rules. Severe action will be taken on the offenders and also the owner of the respective bus on repeat offence, states the notice sent to bus owners.
Online fraud
“People are falling victim to the online fraudsters. In 2019, till June 10, 76 cases of online cheating are registered with the cyber police station. People should be very careful while dealing with strangers on various social media applications and should be alert all the time,” appealed DCP Laxmi Ganesh after the phone-in programme.
