One held for duping more than 138 people on assuring jobs at KMF

Mangaluru: A fake job racket which fleeced more than Rs 1.84 crores from jobseekers was busted and one of the accused has been arrested. At least 138 people were scammed by promising a job in the Karnataka Milk Federation (Mangaluru branch).

The arrested has been identified as Ram Prasad (37) is the person arrested. The other 3 accused — Hemanth, Surendra Reddy, and Darshan — are still at large.

As per preliminary investigation, Ram Prasad claimed himself to be an employee of KMF and promised jobs in the organisation for a fee. He also gave fake appointment letters and ID cards to his victims, police said.

At least 138 job seekers have been victim to the scam and the money collected may exceed Rs 1.84 crores, they added.

Meanwhile, the police have continued their investigation.
