
Organ donor’s family gets Rs 5L compensation from CM special fund

The family of a brain-dead youth, who decided to donate his organs thereby giving a new lease of life to six people were given Rs five lakh from the Chief Minister’s special grant fund.
It maybe recalled that the organ donor Yashraj (16), a resident of Ullal Mastikatte had sustained critical head injuries after falling off a city bus near Adamkudru on September 7, 2022, while travelling to college. He was rushed to the Indiana Hospital where doctors declared him brain dead on September 13.
Yashraj’s parents took the noble decision of donating his organs and set an example for society. MLA U T Khader, who visited the family, appreciated their gesture and assured them of relief from the CM’s special grant fund. He also urged for greater awareness about organ donation among the public.
MLA Khader also stated that he had appealed for a grant from the CM’s fund for the family of Bhooshan Rai, who had also recently donated organs after his untimely demise in an accident at Kuthar. The compensation for Rai’s family is expected to be released soon.
