Mangaluru: The smell and smoke of the smoldering fire that began on the January 6 afternoon at the Pachanady dump yard have spread to the Mangaluru city limits.
Several parts of the city were filled with smoke and bad smell given out by the fire.
However, the fire is under control, but smoke continues to billow from the site. Meanwhile, firefighters are still continuing their efforts to contain the blaze.
Reportedly, the fire broke out at the legacy waste that had accumulated in the landfill site near Mandara at Pachanady and this has created panic among people residing in the surrounding areas.
