Mangaluru: Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik claimed that Parashuram Waghmore, an accused in the Lankesh murder case is a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist and not a member of his outfit.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Muthalik stated that Waghmore and five others had been arrested by the Vijayapura police in connection with the hoisting of Pakistan flag in the tahsildar’s office in Sindagi in the district on January 1, 2012.
At that time the then Vijayapura Superintendent of Police had erroneously stated that they were members of Sri Rama Sene, he alleged.
“All those arrested were RSS activists. Following Waghmore’s arrest for the alleged hoisting of the Pakistan flag, the RSS left him to fend for himself,” Muthalik revealed.
The First Additional District and Sessions Judge, Vijayapura, citing lack of evidence and loopholes in the charge-sheet, acquitted Waghmore and five others of charges of hosting national flag on July 23 this year
