Periyapatna: Accident victim declared brain dead, 12 organs to be donated

Periyapatna: A person who had met with an accident on Monday, September 26, and was availing treatment at Apollo Hospital, Mysuru was declared brain dead on Friday, September 30.

The accident victim has been identified as R K Lohith (29), a resident of Chittenahalli.

On Friday (September 30), the doctors informed Lohith’s parents that their son was brain dead. The doctors also discussed organ donation with them. It is gathered that the parents gave their consent to harvesting Lohith’s organs.

Reportedly, Lohith’s organs will be transplanted into 12 patients in need. His aunt Savitribai said, “Lohith’s cornea, heart, skin, kidney, and several other organs will be donated to the needy”.

Lohit had met with an accident and had suffered severe injuries. The locals had rushed him to a nearby hospital. For advanced treatment, he was later shifted to Mysuru’s Apollo Hospital.
