Personnel of Urwa police station appreciated for being good Samaritans

Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Dr Harsha P S has recognised the exemplary display of real policing by the Urwa police team and issued appreciation letters to all the staff of Urwa police station.

The  appreciation comes in the backdrop of the personnel of Urwa police station in the city, not only helping a distraught citizen from their end, but also coordinating with the other departments to remove a tree fallen on his house during the heavy rains that lashed the city on August 13.

The commissioner was apprised of the humanitarian act by the personnel of the police station through a letter written by Daniel Derick Pais, a resident of Alagudda, Kodikal in the city. “I am writing this letter to you in order to express my gratitude to the personnel of Urwa police station of the city for their prompt response and help to my call on August 13. I was out of Mangaluru city to visit my ailing wife on August 13 and was informed by my neighbours at around 1.30 pm that a coconut tree had fallen on my house, damaging the roof. I immediately informed the Urwa police BEAT team no 38 head constable Naveen about the same,” informs Danile in his letter.

“When I reached my house after two hours, I noticed that the Urwa police team led by ASI Dejappa and others had cleared the fallen tree from the roof of my house. In addition, they had taken the pain to inform the matter to the fire service personnel, corporation authority and village accountant. Within the next two hours, officials from all the other departments arrived on the spot, assessed the situation and brought the same under their control. This was all due to the efforts of Urwa police station personnel,” he stated. “I would like to sincerely thank the police department for the service you all provided to us and for helping us in our need,” concluded Daniel.

Quickly acting upon the letter, the commissioner recognized the exemplary display of real policing by the Urwa police team and personally congratulated the staff of the station.

Appreciating the act, the commissioner said, Issued letters of appreciation to staff of Urwa police station head constable Naveen, ASI Dejappa, ASI Mohan and PC Vincent Kuruvilla for having come to the rescue of Daniel Derick Pais in saving his home, when he was out of town, during heavy rains and cleared the heavy tree that had fallen on the roof of his house. Police staff not only cleared the whole place but also coordinated with all other departments for relief. Good Work.”
