Police arrest car driver involved in fatal hit-and-run accident in Bantwal

Bantwal: Police arrested a man, involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a man on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway near B C Road Circle here

The accident occurred on Monday, August 31 evening when the victim, identified as Prakash R Chowta, a resident of Pallamajalu was headed towards B C Road on his two-wheeler. A car collided into his two-wheeler from the rear and Chowta was thrown to the ground. The car driver however sped away from the spot.

Chowta sustained critical head injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he passed away in the night.

Melkar police investigating the case, identified the vehicle on basis of CCTV footage, and traced the car to Mangaluru. The car driver has been arrested and a case has been registered against him.
