Udupi: The police have arrested a school teacher in the district, accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl student inside a classroom. The accused has been identified as Prasad Kotian.

After the video depicting the teacher sexually exploiting the student went viral on social media and was also broadcasted by a local TV channel, the district superintendent of police, Laxman Nimbargi, visited the school in question on Thursday December 13. Mr Nimbargi confronted the accused teacher and grilled him, post which the teacher confessed to his crime.

Since, neither the parents nor the victim child came forward to register a case; the police got the complaint from the head of the institution and took the accused into custody. The teacher is scheduled to be presented before the Court on Friday.

The Video Clip

The crime came to light when a video clip of the accused teacher sexually exploiting a minor student in the classroom of an English medium school near Karkala went viral on social media. Apparently, the accused teacher is from Naravi in Karkala and had recorded the video himself. Reportedly, the teacher has similar affairs with some other girls of the school and also captures video of his actions with the minor within the classroom.

There have been a few allegations that the sexual predator poses threats to any girl student who refuses to cooperate with his advances. Yet, the school management has failed to take any action against the teacher though there have been allegations.

If rumours are to be believed, the teacher is also in possession of video clips of his depravities with three other minor girl students.

The police have also booked a case against the local cable channel and web channel which transmitted the video clip in the case, as it violates the provisions of the POCSO Act.
