Police arrest Youth for multiple thefts

Mangaluru: A youth has been arrested by Kankanady Police on the charges of stealing batteries and other materials from parked lorries in Vamanjoor area. The arrested has been identified as Azaruddin (26) from Vamanjoor.
According to sources in the police, they grew suspicious on Azaruddin when he was plying in a car at Jeppinamogaru. Police intercepted and seized his car. During the interrogation, he admitted that lorry batteries and iron sheets were stolen by him when the lorries which are parked in Vamanjoor area. It is learnt, he was wanted in connection with theft of goods worth Rs 4.50 lakhs.
Police have seized a battery worth Rs 40,000 as well as a Scorpio vehicle used by the accused to transport the sold goods. The value of the seized goods has been estimated at Rs 4.5 lakhs. Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout for another accused named Arif who is absconding.
