Police will not interfere in Bhajan, Yakshagana assures commissioner

Kavoor: Talks were held with the police commissioner Sandeep Patil by Kavoor Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple Managing committee under the leadership of MLA Dr Bharat Shetty regarding the incident where Kavoor police circle inspector K R Nayak arrived suddenly at the temple premises and stopped the Bhajans and asked to lower the volume of the sound system being used for yakshagana on the occasion as it was causing noise pollution.

The MLA gave information regarding the incident and said that the devotees were hurt by the incident. The temple is also the village temple and various programmes are held here including religious and cultural. See to it that the incident that took place on Monday does not repeat itself. Conduct an investigation and take action against the one who has committed the mistake, requested the MLA.

Action will be taken to see to is that such an incident does not repeat at the religious centres. The incident at Kavoor had not come to my notice. Action will be taken for religious programmes, Yakshagana, Nemas to be conducted at other places without any fear, assured the commissioner.
