Mangaluru: The II Additional District and Sessions Court, which also happens to be the designated court for POCSO cases, on Friday convicted a 49-year-old man in connection with sexual harassment of a minor.
Chandrashekhar alias Rajesh is the convicted person.
According to the charge sheet filed at the Konaje police station, Chandrashekhar and victim are neighbours. The victim, then aged four would often frequent Chandrashekhar’s house to watch television and the latter had on July 23, 2016 sexually harassed the girl. The issue came to light when the victim complained of pain in her private parts to her mother. A case was booked under POSCO on the basis of the complaint filed by the victims’ mother against Chandrashekar at Konaje police station.
Upholding the arguments of Special Public Prosecutor C Venkatramana Swamy, Judge of the court, B R Pallavi, contended that the accused was guilty and convicted him. The quantum of punishment will be announced on Saturday, December 15, it is gathered.
