Projects initiated to commemorate poets Kinhanna Rai, Govinda Pai: Min Sunil Kumar

Mangaluru: District In-Charge Minister Sunil Kumar has said that under the Border Area Development Project, Rs. 50 lakh is released towards the construction of a memorial to commemorate poet Kayyara Kinhanna Rai.
In his Kannada Rajyotsava message, he said that Rai who is popularly called as “Gadinada Kavi” has contributed immensely towards Kannada language and literature.
Sunil Kumar said that he had never backed off from his fight of merging Kasargod district with Karnataka state.
Speaking about Rastrakavi Govinda Pai he said that Govinda Pai has significantly contributed towards the Kannada language and literature. To commemorate his contributions, the government has sanctioned Rs 30 lakhs towards the reprinting of “Govinda Pai Samshodhana Samputa”, a collection of Govinda Pai’s research papers.
Meanwhile, he informed about the implementation of schemes like “Viveka Shaala Yojane” and “Amruta Shala Project”.
He said that the government is already implementing various programmes to promote the Kannada language in the state for which the Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill 2022 has been tabled on the Floor of the House.
Sunil Kumar said that the Bill is likely to get approval in the next Assembly session to be held in December 2022.
