Shivamogga: B Y Vijayendra, the state president of BJP took a jibe at the ruling Congress government alleging that the party’s sixth guarantee is to “protect traitors”.

His remarks come in the aftermath of police briefly detaining BJP workers for protesting against the alleged pro-Pakistan sloganeering in Vidhana Soudha during victory celebrations of Congress candidate Nasir Hussain in Rajya Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters in Shikaripura, he said that if the government has any respect, they would have arrested those who raised slogans right away. “What is there to investigate in this regard?”

“This incident took place soon after Nasir Hussain became a Rajya Sabha member, so I don’t know what danger lies further ahead. The Congress government is supporting the traitors after coming to power,” he said.

“The media is the fourth pillar of democracy. It is not right to oppress them. This shows that the government will stoop to any level. The people of the state are shocked by this incident,” he added.

Reacting to Prakash Raj’s criticism of Modi, Vijayendra said that there is no need to respond to remarks made by an “insignificant” person. The people of the country have expressed their trust in Modi’s leadership. Even Mallikarjun Kharge said that BJP will win 400 seats and Modi will become the Prime Minister again. He echoed confidence that people will elect Modi to power and give a befitting reply to his critics.

Vijayendra criticised the state government claiming that they are “anti-farmer, anti-poor and anti-Dalit”. They are doing injustice to the farmers by not giving them free electricity. The price of the transformer was Rs 25,000 when our government was in power, now it is Rs 3 lakh. The government is giving in one hand and snatching with other hand, he said.

On cross-voting by S.T. Somashekar and Hebbar abstaining from voting, the BJP state president said that the matter would be discussed with the high command and appropriate action would be taken.

“We are already in touch with the top brass. Discussions have been held on the distribution of Lok Sabha tickets and an announcement will be made in 2-3 days,” he said.
