Public to stage dharna against proposed Belman toll gate

Karkala: In the backdrop of reports suggesting that work on the stalled Belman tollgate has resumed and the same would be functional from October 15 onwards, the public with support from political leaders and Kemaru seer will stage a protest against the proposed move on October 7 it is gathered.

At a meeting, held on Wednesday and attended by more than 500 residents of Belman and surrounding areas it was decided to oppose the proposed tollgate under the leadership of Suhas Hegde of Nandalike Chavadi Aramane, who had successfully led the public protest against the Suvarna Corridor project a few years back.

Meanwhile, the public has found support from Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar, and Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Sandipani Sadhanashram.

BJP members to protest tollgate:

Members of BJP, under the banner of BJP Shakthi Kendra, Belman will stage a protest against the tollgate on Friday, October 5. The meeting convened in this respect on Wednesday was attended by MLA, Sunil Kumar, zilla panchayat member, Reshma Uday Shetty, Uday Shetty Inna, former president of taluk panchayat, Jayaram Salian, and others.
