Bengaluru: Akshay Kumar took social media pages to announce his upcoming film ‘Bell Bottom’ along with an intriguing poster on Sunday, November 10. In the poster, Akshay is suited up in the retro style with a vintage car and aeroplane flying overhead.

After seeing the poster, many followers took to twitter seeking clarification on whether this is a remake of the Kannada film with the same name. Akshay has responded to one of the tweets quoting, “#Bellbottom is not a remake of any film, it is an original screenplay inspired by true events.” With his response, he made it very clear that this is not a remake, however, the director of Kannada film ‘Bell Bottom’ Jayatheertha is suspicious about the film as it has the same title, character, and backdrop of 80s story.

The Kannada film, which released this year titled Bell Bottom: Adventures of Detective Divakar, stars Rishab Shetty and Haripriya in lead roles. As per reports, Stunt director Raviverma who has the rights of the film has plans to take legal actions against the Bollywood film.

“We haven’t sent any legal notice to anyone yet, but there should be no similarities between both the films. After acquiring the Kannada film, I gave the movie to several production houses in Mumbai and Nikhil Advani is also one of them. I feel that they have taken the concept and style of the film.” Said Ravi Verma.

Discussing his interactions with the crew of Hindi movie he said, “One of our guys has registered the Hindi title but, there is a rumour that he has already sold the title and we are discussing this. I have informed to the Hindi team about this and they told Akshay will discuss this issue with me. Once we have clarity on this issue, I will call a press conference and give correct information. I am only concerned about our Kannada film, which is eventually an Indian film”.

The director of the Hindi film is Ranjith Tewari and is produced by Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani in association with Pooja Films and Emmay Entertainment. As per the reports, this Bollywood film is based on the story of Bharat Ram Talwar, a freedom fighter who was well known as a friend and comrade of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
