Reckless driving: Trio escape police, flee into forested area

Udupi: A biker sustained severe injuries after a recklessly driven car rammed his two-wheeler here on Monday evening.

The car proceeding from Parkala towards Manipal initially rammed into a bus near KMC Hospital station then collided with the two-wheeler while taking a reverse turn. It is gathered that the car also hit other vehicles, thus damaging them.

The police gave a chase after failing to intercept the car after it made a U-turn and drove towards Parkala. However, the car occupants parked their car near Parkala and fled away into the forested area.

Police searched for them but did not find any trace of the accused.

It is gathered that there were three people in the car, which has been seized by the police. Police found alcohol bottles in the vehicle and it is suspected that the accused might have consumed drugs. Police interrogated the person under whose name the car was registered.
