Removal of Narayana Guru’s message from textbooks: Kota Srinivas Poojary issues clarification

Bengaluru: Minister of Social Welfare and Backward Classes Development Kota Srinivas Poojary met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and held talks about the speculation about the education department dropping a chapter on social reformer Brahmashree Narayana Guru from the school curriculum in the state.

Poojary apprised the Bommai of the rumors on the issue and clarified that the Narayana Guru’s message will be retained.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Poojary said, he discussed the saline points of his meeting with Education Minister B C Nagesh on the issue. “There is no question of removing Narayana Guru’s teaching from the curriculum,” he added.

He appealed to the followers of Narayana Guru, including the Ediga and Billava community, not to listen to rumors spread.
