A rider encountered a dangerous mishap when he and his motorcycle tumbled into an uncovered pothole on a concrete road near Velancia, Mangaluru on Sunday.
This incident transpired on the stretch of road between Valencia and Nandigudde, where repair work for a water pipeline was in progress, resulting in a substantial cavity on the concrete surface.
The accident occurred due to the rider’s failure to notice the pothole and the adverse weather conditions, as it was raining at the time. Fortunately, local bystanders promptly assisted the fallen rider, providing immediate care and ensuring his safety. The pothole was located at the center of the road without any protective barricades or warning signs.
Concerned citizens wasted no time in alerting the Mayor of the Corporation about this potentially hazardous situation. In response, Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur acknowledged the incident and revealed that barricades had indeed been set up at the pipeline work site. However, the mayor pointed out that some vehicles had negligently moved these barricades, leading to the unfortunate accident.
Mayor Kannur assured that the contractor responsible for the pipeline repair work would cover the hospital expenses incurred by the injured rider.
