Bantwal: Kodman Kanthappa Shetty (61), an influential member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Puttur, breathed his last on Monday afternoon at a hospital in Mangaluru.

Kanthappa Shetty, known for his serious demeanor coupled with a warm smile and straightforwardness, was widely respected for his philanthropic nature. His health had been declining over time, leading to his admission to the hospital, where he eventually passed away.

Shetty’s political journey took a turn after facing defeat in the Pudu Gram Panchayath elections. Subsequently, he decided to step away from politics and devoted his efforts to the RSS, actively participating in the Sangh’s endeavors.

Shetty’s extensive contributions to society included serving as the President of Meramajalu Gram Panchayat and the President of the Farangipet Agricultural Cooperative Society for a considerable period. He was also involved in various religious centers.

Several dignitaries including MLA Rajesh Naik U, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and RSS leader Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka expressed their condolences.
