Sandalwood playback singer L N Shastry no more

Bengaluru: Sandalwood playback singer L N Shastry, who was suffering from intestinal cancer, passed away at his residence in Nagarbavi here today.

Shastry was 46 and was survived by his wife Suma Shastry, who is also a singer.

Apart from singing famous songs like Kolumande Jangama Deva from Janumada Jodi and Karunaade Kaye Chachide Node from Malla, he has also composed music for over 25 films.

He won the state film award for playback singing for the cult song Kolumande Jangamadevaru for the film Janumada Jodi in the year 1996.
