The Save Soil movement reached India with the Founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev setting foot at Jamnagar port in Gujarat on Sunday.
After setting sail from Port Sultan Qaboos in Oman, Sadhguru reached the Jamnagar port after a 3-day voyage across the Arabian Sea. He received a rousing welcome at the port, with the Indian Navy band playing the Save Soil Anthem as he disembarked. The crowd sang along ‘Dharti ki pukaar, dharti ki lalkaar, dharti ki dahaad, mitti bachao ped lagao’.
Sadhguru also planted a sapling to symbolize the beginning of the campaign in India. The 100-day, 30,000-km-long #JourneyForSoil was a resounding success in Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East since it began in March.
In his mission to save soil, Sadhguru has received the support of several leaders around the world. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other political leaders from Karnataka including B.S. Yediyurappa, H.D. Deve Gowda, H D Kumaraswamy, Siddharamaiah, Jagadish Shettar, S.M. Krishna, and Dr. M. Veerappa Moily have also pledged their support for the mission.
In the India leg of the ‘Journey to Save Soil’, Sadhguru will ride his motorcycle covering the 9 states over 25 days. He is scheduled to reach Karnataka on June 19. A public address will be held at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru where Cheif Minister Basavaraj Bommai is expected to be there.
