Bengaluru: Two persons were arrested by the CCB police in Bengaluru for attempting to sell two Saligram stones for a whopping Rs 2 crore, claiming that they were lucky stones embodying the form of Vishnu.

The arrested have been identified as Manoj and Aditya Sagar, residents of Maharashtra.

The stones had been procured from the Gomati River in Gujarat and were being sold to potential buyers in a private hotel on Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar.

In order to persuade customers of the stones’ divine powers, the accused wrapped them in cloth and doused them with camphor and petrol before lighting them on fire to demonstrate that the cloth did not burn. However, they had added chemicals to the cloth beforehand to prevent it from burning.

The CCB police based on credible information conducted a raid and seized the Saligram stones and some chemicals.
