Shivamogga: Accused shot, injured during arrest

Shivamogga: An accused in a case was injured after police fired shots at his legs while arresting him.

The injured accused has been identified as Aslam. Police claimed that shots were fired in self-defense when the accused attacked them with a knife in order to evade arrest.

Aslam was one of the accused in the case of physical assault that took place on the night of October 30, in which a man named Ashok Prabhu was injured, police said.

Doddapete police said they received a tipoff that Aslam was hiding in a locality on Purale Road. A team headed by PSI Vasanth went for his arrest.

Police claimed that Aslam attacked them with a knife and tried to flee from the spot. Police personnel, identified as Ramesh, sustained injuries in the attack.

PSI Vasanth, meanwhile, shot him in the left leg.

Both the accused has been admitted to the McGann Hospital. The injured policeman is receiving medical treatment at a private hospital, police said.

Aslam has a prior history of conflict with the law, police said. he had 9 cases registered against him at various police stations.

 

An accused in a case was attacked with a knife by a man when he was on his way to arrest him. The police shot the accused in the leg in self-defence.

Aslam was shot in his left leg. Aslam was hiding in a locality constructed on Purale Road. Based on a tip-off, doddapet police went to arrest him.

Knife-wielding attack on policemen

Aslam was arrested under the leadership of Doddapet police station PSI Vasanth. During this, Aslam tried to attack the police personnel Ramesh with a knife. Police personnel Ramesh was injured in the attack. Aslam tried to escape after the attack.

Shot by police in self-defence

Aslam, who tried to escape, was warned by PSI Vasanth but he attacked the policemen and tried to flee. Aslam sustained bullet injuries in his left leg. Police personnel Ramesh and the accused Aslam were rushed to The Meggan Hospital. Both have been treated. Ramesh has been admitted to a private hospital by police personnel.

Police sources said Aslam has a criminal background. Nine cases have been registered against him in various police stations.

Why did Aslam go to arrest?

On the night of August 30, ashok prabhu, who was walking on B.H. Road, had a quarrel with four men over a petty issue. Ashok Prabhu had attacked his left chin with a sharp-edged weapon. Ashok Prabhu, who sustained injuries, was rushed to The Meggan Hospital.

Asif alias Chelli (26), a resident of Sagar, was arrested on Friday in connection with the case. Another accused, Aslam, was hiding in a locality on Purale Road.
