Six members of notorious robbery gang nabbed

Mulky: Six members of a gang of robbers were successfully arrested by a police team led by Mulky police inspector Anantapadmanabha. The gang is involved in various cases of murder, looting, robbery and other cases and posed a challenge to police department.

The arrested are identified as Mohammed Anees (24) from Padubidri Kanchinadka, Shaukat Ali (32) from Bajpe Jokatte, Zakir Hussain (20) from Haleangady Santhekatte, Mohammed Anwar (26) from K S Rao Nagar, Kolnadu, Mulky, Mehraj (26), from Haleangady Indiranagar and a minor boy from Padupanambur. The accused were produced in the court and remanded to police custody.

Mohammed Anees and Shaiukat Ali who are supposed to be the main conspirators, were arrested by inspector Anantapadmanabha while on highway patrol. Under interrogation, the identity of other accused was revealed. The police have seized ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh, vehicles used for robbery, cell phones and other items from the accused.

The operation was conducted under the direction of city Police Commisisoner Sandeep Patil, with guidance from Deputy Commissioners of police, Hanumantharaya and Laxmi Ganesh. assistant commissioner of police (Panambur), Srinivas Gowda led the operation conducted by inspector, Anantapadmanabha and sub-inspector, Sheetal Alagur, along with assistant sub-inspectors, Chandrashekhar and Keshava.
