Sportswoman accuses Gulbarga doctor of raping her on pretext of marriage

Gulbarga/Kolhapur: A national level sportswoman from Maharashtra has accused a Karnataka doctor for assaulting her for a long time, police said.
As indicated by Investigating Officer Dilip Tibile of Karveer Police Station, the complaint was recently recorded by the 33-year-old sportswoman against a doctor living in Gulbarga town in north Karnataka.
The complainant has said the denounced has raped her for more than two years promising of marriage and then renegading on his promise. The accused is now absconding and the police are in search for him.
The victim said she came in contact with the doctor through a social networking profile in December 2016 and after some time he went to Kolhapur to meet her.
Afterward, he proposed marriage and portrayed himself like a respectable man..
In this way, till March, he called her to Goa and Bengaluru and raped her. When she insisted to be engaged, he straight declined to wed her.
Stunned by this, the sportswoman threatened that she will give a police complaint. But he warned her of posting her pictures on social media and even threatened to kill her.
Taking note of the complaint, the Kolhapur Police have framed teams to chase down the doctor, said Tibile. The Maharashtra Police has looked for the assistance from its Karnataka counterpart to help trace and nab the accused.
