Bengaluru: Taking a detour from its earlier stance of not allowing schools to collect fees amid the lockdown, the department of primary and secondary education on Thursday said that fees for the next academic year can be collected from parents who are willing to do so.
The decision was taken after private educational institutions stressed that they may find it difficult to pay salaries of teaching and non-teaching faculty.
In its order, The department said that fees can be collected from those parents who are willing and can afford to pay amid the lockdown situation . The fees so collected will be used to disburse salaries of the faculty members.
It however warned schools against pressurising parents to pay fees within a deadline.
