Subdued Ganesha festival in Mangaluru amid corona pandemic

Mangaluru: The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is being celebrated with subdued fervour amid COVID-19 restrictions in Mangaluru city.

As per the protocol devised for the festival, processions, music and cultural programs will not be allowed. All the organisers of the festival must have Covid-19 negative report and certificate of vaccination.

This year Ganesh idols are installed at 157 places in the city and as per press release from city police commissioner’s office 90% of Ganesh idols will be immersed on the first day itself.

Three DCPs, five ACPs, 24 PIs, 62 PSIs, 1,222 ASIs, personnel, six battalions of CAR and five battalions of KSRP are deputed on duty in order to maintain law and order.
