Sullia: 35 grams of gold found in thief’s stomach

Sullia: Thirty-five grams of gold was found in the stomach of a thief accused of robbing jewellery shops at Puttur and Sullia.

Sullia police officials had arrested Thangachan and Shibu in the gold robbery case.

On the night of May 29, Shibu was admitted to a hospital after complaining of abdominal pain.

An X-ray scan at the hospital revealed that there was gold in his stomach.

Surgeons operated on him on the morning of May 30 and removed the 35 grams of jewellery from his abdomen that included 30 pieces of different gold ornaments.

Police officials said that he had swallowed the stolen gold ornaments.

The accused, who was released from the hospital, was produced in court and was sentenced to judicial custody.
