Udupi/Bengaluru: The state government on Saturday provided ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the seven missing fishermen who were on board the Suvarna Tribhuja boat.
The fishing vessel had set sail from Malpe on December 13, 2018, with a 7-member crew including its owner. The boat however went mysteriously missing off the Goa coast two days later. The search operation to trace the crew members did not yield any results.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa handed over the cheques to the families during the World Fisheries Day celebrations, held at the Banquet hall of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Saturday.
DK District in-charge Minister and Minister for Fisheries Kota Srinivas Poojary and Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat were also present.
