Swami Vivekananda, born on January 12, 1863 was one of the most famous and influential spiritual leaders of the philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga. He was the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the founder of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

In his lifetime, he has inspired many people all over the world with his teaching and spiritual knowledge. On his death anniversary, let’s know about the friendship between    Swami Vivekananda and Nikola Tesla.

Vivekananda was the first known Hindu Sage to come to the West in 1893. During the three years that he toured the United States and Europe, Vivekananda met with many of the well known scientists of the time including Lord Kelvin and Nikola Tesla.

Nikola Tesla was much impressed to hear from the Swami Vivekananda his explanation of the Samkhya cosmogony and the theory of cycles given by the Hindus

Nikola Tesla was introduced to the Vedas by Swami Vivekananda Ji after he asked Swami to enlighten him on spiritual connections.

Vivekananda and Tesla discussed the notions of prana, akasha, and kalpas, three elementary concepts of the Vedantic doctrine. Prana might be understood as a unit of energy, akasha as matter, and kalpas as time. Tesla assured Vivekananda that ideas of such a long tradition in Hinduism could find an echo in modern Western science.

Nikola Tesla taking original knowledge from Vedas, invented many things that we all use on a daily basis

Tesla gave contributions to the world based on his research and experiments from Vedas but he was not given credit for them
