Mangaluru: The much-awaited provisional results of the graduate teachers’ recruitment has been released by the Education Department. As many as 833 teachers, including 575 for Dakshina Kannada district and 258 for Udupi district, have been delcared provisionally successful for the posts of primary teachers (classes 6 to 8).

Though this is a tentative list, the final list is expected to be almost the same, with minor changes. The final list is expected to be released in a few days, officials said.

With the completion of the recruitment process, newly appointed teachers are expected to report to assigned schools in January next year and resume their duties.

Similarly, a fresh selection process for recruiting high school teachers is likely to be held in February. The official notification is expected to be published in a few days.

Reacting to the development, a primary school teacher said that the poor-student ratio due to the non-appointment of teachers has put a burden on existing teaching staff, adversely affecting academic activities at the government schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Once the newly recruited teachers resume work, the burden will reduce. “The recruitment to the vacant teaching posts in classes 1 to 5 should also be done urgently,” the teacher added.
