Three inter-state thieves nabbed

Stolen goods worth Rs 4.4 lakh recovered

Mangaluru: Three inter-state thieves have been arrested by Pandeshwar police. Stolen items worth Rs 4.4 lakh have also been recovered from the arrested.

The arrested trio are identified as Anil Kumar (28) from Chikmagalur, Veerendra Shetty (46) and Abdul Rahim alias Chappe Tanni Rahim (42), both from Mangaluru. They were arrested in connection to a case registered in Koyilandy police station in Kerala on Tuesday March 26.

The recovered stolen goods include 136 grams of gold ornaments stolen from a house in Koyilandy, a TV stolen from another house in the same town and a TV, copper vessels burgled from a house in Kulshekar. The total loot is worth Rs 4.4 lakh.

Of the accused, Anil is accused in three theft cases in Karwar police station, two in Udupi city police station, three theft cases in Calicut Medical College police station and another theft case in Kozhikode police station.

The other accused Veerendra faces one burglary case each in Surathkal, Bantwal, and Manjeshwar police stations, and an attempt-to-murder case in Konaje police station limits.

The third accused Abdul is accused in two attempt-to-murder cases in Mangaluru north police station, and one ganja case each in Barke, Panambur, coastal security, and Mangaluru east police stations. Goonda Act was invoked against him in 2017.

The operation to nab the accused was conducted on the directions of police commissioner Sandeep Patil, and under the guidance of DCP Hanumantharaya, DCP Uma Prashanth. Mangaluru central ACP Sudheer Hegde, and Pandeshwar police inspector Kumar Aradhya led the police team during the operation.
