TikTok downloads fall from 35.7 mn to 17 mn in 2 months

Tiktok has witnessed a fall in its downloads in April and May by 34% and 28% respectively as compared to the previous two months.

In March, TikTok was downloaded 35.7 million times followed by 23.5 million in April and 17 million in the first three weeks of May. Sensor Tower indicates that close to 90 percent users in India are feeling negative about the app.

Several controversies have affected its Google Play Store rating where it fell to as low as 1.2 last week from 4.9, with over a million reviews critical of the app. Users are outraging against the platform for promoting objectionable content, including acid attacks, rape, violence against animals.

Last week, National Commission of Women Chairman Rekha Sharma called on the Indian government to ban TikTok.
