A heated argument at a sports tournament at Doddabelavangala took a violent turn with the murder of two innocent youths, one engineering graduate and a PUC student, on Friday, February 17.

The deceased have been identified as Bharath Kumar (23) and Prateek (17), both from Doddabelavangala.

Case details:

On February 17 a group of four men drove up to the ground in a car where a cricket tournament was being held and tried to park inside the ground, but the players and organizers objected. Eventually, an argument broke out and the crowd smashed the car’s glass. Outnumbered, the four left.

Participants in the tournament stopped and vandalized their car once more. While the four were fleeing, they came across Kumar and Prateek, who were dressed in T-shirts provided by the organizers. The men stabbed the two despite the fact that they were not part of the crowd that smashed the car.

Prateek was stabbed in the private parts with a dagger that remained stuck in his body, while Kumar was stabbed in the lower abdomen. Reportedly, the two had nothing to do with the brawl.

Following the incident, a special team has been formed to nab the killers, and a large number of cops have been deployed in the village.
