Malpe: In the backdrop of the case of the missing fishermen, the trawlers that had anchored at the fisheries port so far will be venturing out into the deep sea to commence fishing from Monday Jan 7th onwards. This decision was taken after an extensive meeting was conducted with various organizations under the leadership of Malpe fishermen’s Association on Sunday, informed Satish Kunder, president of Malpe Fishermen’s Association.

The boats will venture out into the sea in phases and the first two days will be compulsorily used in locating of the missing trawler and its crew. On getting any leads, they must compulsorily contact the concerned officials immediately.

Close to 50,000 people took part in the massive protest on Sunday. Not just fishermen from Uppala to Karwar, but also friends from across various communities, groups and organisations took part in the protest and Mr Kunder conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the Malpe Fishermen’s Association to all who cooperated in the protest.
