Udupi Dandiya-2023 radiates festive charm

Udupi: In a splendid display of cultural fervor, thousands of women and children adorned in traditional attire gathered at the MGM College grounds on Saturday to commemorate the 6th year of Udupi Dandiya-2023. The event was organized by the Udupi Sarvajanika Shree Ganeshotsav Samiti in celebration of Navaratri.
The ceremonial commencement of the Dandiya dance was led by MLA Yashpal A. Suvarna and former MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, setting the stage for an evening of festive exuberance.
The festivities featured an assortment of seven food stalls, facilitated by a convenient coupon system. Prizes were conferred upon the fortunate coupon winners, adding an element of excitement to the proceedings. there was also a selfie point for capturing cherished memories of the event.
Notably, the presence of a sizable contingent of college students contributed to the youthful vibrancy of the gathering.
Jayalakshmi B Hegde of Jayalakshmi Silks, Aparna R Hegde, Sandhya S Kamath of ‘Aabharana Jewellers, and Suvarsha Minj held the ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the official commencement of the festivities. Ganeshotsava Committee Chairman P. Vasanth Bhat, along with General Secretary Raghavendra Kini and Vallabh Bhat, were also in attendance.
The proceedings were ushered in with a warm welcome by Sujala S. Suvarna, followed by engaging narrations by Ujjwala Pi Vandisi and Akshata Nithin. The Dandiya dance was further elevated by the musical accompaniment provided by Satish Bannanje of the Rhythm Music Team.
