Udupi DC Dr. Vidyakumari kickstarts nine-day Uchila Dasara-2023

In a vibrant ceremony held at the Uchila Sri Mahalakshmi Temple, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vidyakumari inaugurated the Uchila Dasara Utsav-2023. This auspicious event is set to be an integral part of the Navaratri celebrations, orchestrated under the auspices of the D.K. Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha.

Dr. Vidyakumari extended her wishes for prosperity, stating, “May the land be bestowed with happiness and wealth. May the blessings of Dasara bring abundance of joy, wealth, rain, crops, and the lives of the people.”

Honorary Adviser of the Kshetra, Dr. G. Shankar, presided over the event and emphasized the inclusive nature of this celebration. He announced the introduction of Yuva Dasara and Mahila Dasara, along with a diverse array of cultural festivities. Noteworthy additions this year include a fruit and flower show, an exhibition of fishing tools, and a book fair, anticipating the participation of a vast audience.

Dr. Shankar expressed gratitude towards the state government for their generous grant of Rs 50 lakh through the Department of Kannada and Culture, which serves as an encouragement for future prosperity.

Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the success of the event. Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna and Mogaveera Samaj leader Dr. G. Shankar graced the occasion with their presence.

AC Rashmi, Kannada, and Culture Department Poornima, DK Mogaveera Mahajan Sangh President Jaya C Kotyan, Vice President Subhashchandra Mendon, General Secretary Sudhakar Kunder, Businessman Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, Kshetra Committee President Vasudeva Salyan, Gundu B Amin, Women’s Division President Usha Rani, Suguna, various office bearers Manoj Kanchan, Suguna Karkera, Shankar Salyan, Satish Amin Barkuru, Mohan Bengre, Anil Kumar, Sanjiva Mendon, Dinesh, Ravindra Sriyan, Satish Amin Padukare were also present.

The festivities were marked by the installation of idols of Navadurge and Sri Sarada Mata in the Srimati Shalini Dr. G. Shankar hall adjacent to the temple.

The event showcased a fruit show, a book fair, and provided valuable information on fisheries schemes at both the central and state levels. An exhibition of fishing tools and an amusement park further enriched the experience.
