Udupi district announces special local school holiday on March 7 for Holi Purnima celebrations

Udupi district has announced a special local holiday on March 7, the day of Holi Purnima, to honor the traditional celebrations of the Marathi and Kudubi communities in the region. The Deputy Director of Public Instruction, in response to a request made by MLA Raghupati Bhat, has issued an order granting a one-day holiday to schools where the children from these communities study.
In response to a request from the Udupi District Marathi Samaj Seva Sangha, the MLAs wrote to the Deputy Commissioner asking for a special local holiday for the festival.
Following a report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner to the Deputy Director of Education, the order was issued to grant a special local holiday to school students in the specific area where Holi Purnima is celebrated.
