Udupi: Five fishermen were rescued after their fishing boat hit a rock in Udupi.
The boat ‘Swarnagauri’, owned by Bhaskar M Puthran of Badanidiyoor had ventured into the sea for fishing from Malpe fishing port on December 30.
On January 3, the boat hit a rock and as the plank was destroyed, water began to flood the boat. An SOS was sent to the nearby ‘Varuna’ boat and the victims were rescued.
2000 liters of diesel, six sets of net, rope, drum winch, and an engine were lost to the sea. The estimated loss is Rs 30 lakh.
