Udupi: In view of a fresh surge in Covid-19 cases, the district administration has decided to conduct a mandatory Covid-19 test of people who do not wear a face mask.
Amid the pandemic, the government had issued guidelines stating that people must wear a mask in public places, maintain social distancing, and avoid crowded places, for their own protection and that of their fellow citizens.
But as many are seen roaming without masks, the district administration has decided that such people must undergo the Covid-19 test.
A criminal case will be filed against the violators and strict action will be taken against them, said Udupi DC G Jagadeesh.
Also, to prevent the further spread of Covid-19, henceforth, all those staying in the containment zones will be considered as primary contacts and they will undergo mandatory Covid-19 tests.
