Udupi: Police arrest 24 absconding criminals in several cases

In a major breakthrough, police special teams have apprehended 24 absconding criminals who had been evading the law for several years.
Among the 24 accused, one was caught at the India-Nepal border, three from Kerala, four from outstation districts, and the rest from Udupi district itself.
The arrested accused were wanted in cases of looting, assault on government employees, theft, kidnapping, sexual assault, ghastly road accidents, and cheque bounce.
Prakash, who was sentenced in a looting case, was arrested after being on the run for seven years. Oliver Gladson Wilson, an accused in a cheque bounce case, was caught after five years of being absconding. Rajeeva Shetty, wanted in an assault case, was arrested after five years, and Guruprasad, involved in a theft case, was apprehended after four years of being on the run.
Ummer, an accused in a forceful kidnapping and extortion case, was caught after evading the law for ten years. Sudarshan, wanted in a theft case, was arrested after being on the run for three years. Jeethendra Sharki, accused in a POCSO rape case, was arrested from the Indo-Nepal border area after two years of being absconding. Babu, Krishnan Kutty, and Sunil Kumar, involved in a deadly road accident, were caught after being on the run for two years from Kerala and Kundapur.
Sahadeva, wanted in a theft case, was arrested after being on the run for 13 years. Sheshamani Namadev, a native of Madhya Pradesh, who was accused in a fatal road accident case, was apprehended after being on the run for eight years. Nishi, wanted in a case, was traced after 12 years in Taliparamba, Kerala, and produced in court.
