Udupi: Owners of hotels, boarding, and lodging, guest house, rented house, educational institutions, etc., are requested to provide the details of foreign guests to the Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) within 24 hours of their stay, mandatorily.

The orders are passed as per the Foreigners Act of 1946.

If the owners fail to do so, then stringent action would be taken according to the Act which includes imprisonment upto five years and a penalty.

The foreigner’s information can be registered through the website https://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/FormC. But the foreigners will not be having an option of filling in Form C. However, the owners will be having an option to self-register with an OTP.

If technical difficulties are experienced while filling the Form C, the users are requested to use the Mozilla Firefox browser.

People are requested not to contact unauthorized agents for job placement abroad, as there are several cases reported of fraud, where people have become victims of unemployment in other countries in the name of jobs and have lost their money.

Hence, to avoid confusion, job seekers and applicants are requested to contact authorized agents registered under the Ministry of External Affairs. Information about authorized agents in Udupi can be accessed through the website https://www.emigrants.gov.in/ .

Fresh applicants or applicants who want to renew their passports are requested to contact the passport centres located at Brahmavar or Mangaluru. As per the notification issued by the Regional Passport Office, there are no authorized agents.

According to the press statement released by the office of Udupi SP, several cases regarding the issue of fake passports have been reported. Hence agents caught in such acts will be punished under the law.
