Udupi: Stolen valuables worth Rs 3.6 lac recovered; accused held

Udupi: A 34-year-old resident of Kukkikatte has been arrested by the police in connection with a theft case near Gundibail here. Stolen ornaments worth Rs 3.6 lac were recovered from his possession.
The arrested Sukesh Naik was produced before a court that remanded him to judicial custody.
Naik had stolen gold ornaments weighing 90 grams worth Rs 3.6 lakhs, silver valuables worth Rs 10,000 from the house belonging to Babu Acharya near Gundibail. He gained access into the house by breaking open the lock and decamped with the valuables stored in the almirah.
The investigating police arrested Naik from near a wine shop at Bellampalli. He confessed to the crime and revealed that he had hidden the stolen ornaments in land belonging to Srikar Kamath near Panchadhoomavathi temple, Gundibail.
