Udupi: Police have registered a case against three persons, including VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell for making a provocative speech at a protest rally demanding a detailed investigation into the Udupi washroom video case.

Apart from Sharan Pumpwell, Udupi police have booked a suo motu case against BJP Mahila Morcha Udupi district president Veena Shetty and VHP leader Dinesh Mendon.

Pumpwell in his speech at the rally had said, “Hindu mothers should wake up. The hands which hold brooms should hold swords. Whenever there is injustice against Hindus we should be ready to fight.”

Similarly, VHP Udupi District Secretary Dinesh Mendon is also accused of giving a provocative speech. Veena Shetty in her speech said that Muslim girls should not be admitted to schools and colleges, but they should study in madrasas.

A police officer on duty at the protest venue took note of the speeches and a suo motu case was registered.
