A Kerala resident allegedly attempted to murder an individual near Kotekaru ground after he was denied accommodation.

The victim, identified as Abubakar Siddique, narrowly escaped a gruesome fate. The accused, Umar Nawaf from Gundapu in Manjeshwara Pavoor, Kerala, is the accused. The incident took place around 11 pm when Umar Nawaf contacted Abubakar Siddique, luring him to Kotekaru ground under the pretense of being an agent.

As Abubakar was walking near Ajjinadka, Umar Nawaf arrived on a motorcycle and forcefully made him sit on the bike. Subsequently, they reached Kotekaru ground, where Umar Nawaf brandished a sword he had brought along. Using derogatory language, Umar Nawaf taunted Abubakar Siddique, berating him for not allowing him to stay at his residence.

He exclaimed, “Shouldn’t I be in your house? Who do you fear? I won’t spare you.”  In an attempt to flee, Abubakar sustained severe injuries to his right shoulder and also suffered bleeding on his forehead, left hand, right hand, and shoulder.

Abubakar’s cries for help drew the attention of bystanders, prompting Umar Nawaf to destroy Abubakar’s mobile phone and flee the scene. Before leaving, Umar Nawaf menacingly threatened to carry out a similar attack on Abubakar’s brother, Umar Farooq.

Abubakar was taken to Yenapoya Hospital in Deralkatte, where he received immediate medical attention.

A case has been registered.
