Uppinangadi: Minor girl raped by neighbour; accused held

Uppinangadi police have arrested a man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Puchcheri of Nelyadi village here.

The accused identified as Chetan has been booked under POCSO Act.

The incident took place on December 29 when the victim along with her family members had gone to the school for the annual program function. As the victim insisted on watching the program till the end, her parents left for home.
The accused Chetan, who also happens to be their neighbour offered to drop the girl back home safely.

However, later Chetan took her to a forested area where he raped her. Moreover he abandoned the girl in the wooded area.

As the victim did not return home her parents began searching for her and found her in the forest at dawn.

She narrated the entire ordeal to her parents who then hospitalised her and booked a case against Chetan.
