Uppinangady: Timely intervention of the police prevented a brawl between two groups of students over a trivial matter from snowballing into a disaster on Friday.

The police arrived at the spot where the students from opposing groups had gathered on Friday and dispersed them before the conflict could escalate, sources said.

The conflict reportedly began after a first PUC student of the college allegedly assaulted another student studying in the second PUC on Thursday. On Friday, the supporters of both students congregated on campus. The police team, led by Uppinangady SI Rajesh K V rushed to the spot and dispersed the irate groups.

Later, more than 10 students involved have been asked to bring their parents and were let to attend classes only after signing a personal undertaking, sources added.
