Vijayapura: Country’s longest aqueduct inaugurated

Vijayapura: The country’s longest and tallest aqueduct (elevated canal), a viaduct of the Tidagundi Branch Canal, has been opened for the public.

The 14.73 kilometre long and Rs 280.26 aqueduct is part of the Mulawadi Lift Irrigation part of the Upper Krishna Phase III project.

The aqueduct flows from Buranpur to Bhutnal in the district. It consists of more than 400 pillars and is at 30 metres above the ground. The aqueduct was built with prefabricated structures.

Babaleshwar MLA M B Patil, Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Nagthan MLA Devanand Chauhan inaugurated the aqueduct.
